SENIOR WOMEN DOMINATE LIONS
The Eric Boardman Memorial torches lit up the Pouch on Friday night with the Lady Roos playing host to cross town rivals the Sunbury Lions. It was all one way traffic as the Roos dominated the entire game rarely allowing the Lionesses an opportunity to cross into their own forward fifty. The Women, with 2 relatively easy games to go, should hold on to 3rd spot on the ladder, giving them a double chance come finals time. Well done girls on another solid performance.

UPHILL BATLLE FOR U/19’s FINALS HOPES
The Dew Kickers took on ladder leaders Westmeadows and came away empty handed. The Tigers kept the Young Roos scoreless in the first quarter, taking a 26 point lead into the first break. It looked like the Roos were going to be run over by Westmeadows, but to their credit, reduced the deficit to 13 by half time. The 3rd quarter saw Westmeadows kick away again, leaving the Young Roos adrift by 29 going into the last change. The Roos fought back in the last quarter keeping the Tigers goalless, going down by 17 points. The Young Roos will need to find something special if they want to make the finals.

ROOS 2’s SLOW OUT OF BLOCKS
It looked like the world famous Roo’s 2’s were going to be undone by Hadfield on Saturday, but the boys managed to come away with the win. Hadfield came out of the away rooms firing in the first quarter keeping the 2’s to just 9 points, and leading by 16 points at quarters end. What ever was said in the huddle worked as the Kangas fired up and kicked 5 goals to 2, leading at half time by 6 points. The Roos kept control of the match in the second half, running the game out comfortable winners by 40 points. Another “W” in the bank.

SENIORS HARD FOUGHT WIN
The Roo Boys had another win over Hadfield, but the lads had to fight hard to get it. Hadfield’s defence is pretty damn good, only allowing the Roos to lead by 14 points at quarter time. The Hawks switched from defence to attack in the 2nd and went into halftime leading the Roos by 1 point. Some serious soul searching at the main break saw the Kangas take control of the game ending the 3rd quarter 6 goals ahead. The Roo Boys managed to get the lead out to 61 points in the last quarter, but a couple of junk time goals from the Hawks brought the eventual margin down to 48. The boys now have 2 weeks off with byes, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Rest up lads, get those injuries and niggles sorted.
